Shinola & Woodchuck journals now available at The Windmill

We are SO excited to be sharing this news:  Shinola and Woodchuck journals are now in stock!

1-instagram-shinola

Shinola is a Detroit-based company with a commitment to beautiful design, quality craftsmanship, and American manufacturing.  They create a variety of American-made products, many of which are made at their factories in Detroit.  We're huge fans of their philosophy and ethics, and we're proud to be introducing Shinola's journals to Boca Raton.  We have both hard linen and soft linen journals in small, medium, and large, all in a variety of colors and interior pages.  They're made using all US-sourced materials from sustainably-managed forests.

Our must-have item from Shinola is The Runwell Planner - a thoughtfully designed weekly planner with a black hard linen cover and a lay-flat binding.

And now for Woodchuck!

Woodchuck is based in Minneapolis, and part of their mission is very similar to Shinola's - to bring jobs back to America, and to bring quality products back to consumers.  What sets their products apart is that they are made with beautiful, sustainably-sourced, FSC-certified real wood.  Each journal is created with wood from a single tree - we have Birch, Cedar, Walnut, Mahogany, and Rosewood (our favorite!), in both classic and pocket sizes.  Each wooden cover is individually selected for unique grain and quality.  The interior pages (which come blank or lined) are 100% recycled.

Woodchuck and Shinola are currently only available in-store, not in our online shop.  Stop in to see them - or give us a call and we're happy to ship them to you!

The Windmill featured on Downtown Boca!

We are so honored to be featured on Downtown Boca this week!  Here's a glimpse of the article:

Join the fight against bland, boring paper

windmillpaper-1

Sarah Gluchacki is on a mission: to rid the world of cookie-cutter cards, notebooks and tacky giftwrap. Sound silly? There’s a serious side. At Gluchacki’s new Downtown Boca stationery shop, The Windmill Paper Boutique, she sources products only from small design and print shops and works hard to offer environmentally-friendly staples you wouldn’t normally find in chain card shops.

“I strive to support local vendors with eco-friendly practices,” says Gluchacki, who opened The Windmill after a stint as the lead graphic designer for a wedding invitation company. “I do my best to provide the freshest patterns, hues, and designs available – products that are not only useful, but beautiful as well.”

In her shop, every item is hand-crafted on natural papers made of materials like cotton and bamboo. Gluchacki specializes in custom invitations and stationery, but also carries a full stock of ready-to-buy paper goods like patterned notebooks, customized gift wrap and note cards.

“We’re all about utilizing bold patterns, bright colors, and classy, fun, cheeky designs from famous designers,” Gluchacki says. “These aren’t your typical convenience store cards.”

Elum cards, notebooks, and more

Elum designs are on the shelves here at The Windmill (although based on how fast they have been flying, they won't be here for long!).  Elum offers an assortment of letterpress greeting cards, but we are most excited about the alternative paper items like sticky note cubes, edge painted note bars, fabric-covered journals, and patterned gift bags. IMG_2384-adj

We carry the Big Stack Note Bars in both metallic gold and bright blue.  These come in a set of 150 thick unprinted cards, each of which is edge painted.  These are great for a pop of color on your desk or phone table!

These Writer's Blocks are 700 sticky notes in a cube, with a hole in the corner to hold a pen or pencil.  These cubes are great for an office or desk, and 700 stickies go a long way!

These fabric-covered journals are our most popular item so far!  They are 100% wood-free and eco-friendly, and have 120 unprinted pages inside for notes or drawings.  They also have a gusseted pocket in the back to keep any loose notes, receipts, or anything else you may want to hold onto.

We absolutely love these gorgeous gift bags.  Sturdy and ultra-soft, they are like no other gift bag you have held before - you have to see them in person to believe it.  Stop in soon to see these amazing items and pick up your favorites before they're gone!
