Be inspired: Bright & Rustic

Can you believe it's Friday already?  For this week's inspiration, we used a gorgeous, bright barnyard photo from Vicki and Danny of Starfish Studios.  To go along with the fun rustic save the date design we created, we're thinking marigold edge painting and a matching marigold envelope with a bronze liner.2014.06.06 [Photo credit: Starfish Studios.]

Be inspired: Vintage floral

Happy Friday!  This week we dreamed up this totally custom letterpress wedding invitation design based on the vintage floral (or as my husband pointed out, vintage floor-al) pattern from this photo by local photographer Todd Good.  We think this design would be gorgeous letterpress printed on ultra-thick cotton paper through our vendor Bella Figura, with a mustard edge and a metallic bronze envelope liner.2014.05.30 [Photo credit: Todd Good.]

Be inspired: Seaside Bride

Today, we're starting a new series of inspiration posts to get the creativity flowing!  Thanks to SoFlo photographer Chris Kruger for the gorgeous inspiration photos featured today.  We envision this design printed through one of our favorite vendors, Smock, with silver foil for the lettering over the digitally printed watercolor.  Add an apricot edge and a pumpkin pie envelope liner for an extra pop of color! Allie Munroe custom designs available at The Windmill

Happy Friday!  Today, we are proud to feature our newest line, Allie Munroe.  These ladies were sweet enough to invite us to visit their studio a couple of months ago - and we were blown away!  Based in Miami, Allie Munroe offers almost any type of material and printing method that can be imagined – if you have a crazy, wild idea, they will do their absolute best to make it happen.  We love them for their alternative materials – in addition to their beautiful paper (which they can stack up and duplex to create an ultra-thick card), they offer printing on plastic, acrylic, cork, wood, metal, and more. windmillpaper-1

The company’s vision is to put a new twist on the old, crafting personalized paper designs using vintage techniques like letterpress and engraving in fresh and modern ways.  Textured paper.  Saturated colors.  Classic typefaces.  Contemporary designs.  All are signature Allie Munroe.

The Windmill featured on Downtown Boca!

We are so honored to be featured on Downtown Boca this week!  Here's a glimpse of the article:

Join the fight against bland, boring paper

windmillpaper-1

Sarah Gluchacki is on a mission: to rid the world of cookie-cutter cards, notebooks and tacky giftwrap. Sound silly? There’s a serious side. At Gluchacki’s new Downtown Boca stationery shop, The Windmill Paper Boutique, she sources products only from small design and print shops and works hard to offer environmentally-friendly staples you wouldn’t normally find in chain card shops.

“I strive to support local vendors with eco-friendly practices,” says Gluchacki, who opened The Windmill after a stint as the lead graphic designer for a wedding invitation company. “I do my best to provide the freshest patterns, hues, and designs available – products that are not only useful, but beautiful as well.”

In her shop, every item is hand-crafted on natural papers made of materials like cotton and bamboo. Gluchacki specializes in custom invitations and stationery, but also carries a full stock of ready-to-buy paper goods like patterned notebooks, customized gift wrap and note cards.

“We’re all about utilizing bold patterns, bright colors, and classy, fun, cheeky designs from famous designers,” Gluchacki says. “These aren’t your typical convenience store cards.”
